Did You Know?

The Bronze Boy is a familiar sight to residents. When a retired colonel and his wife toured Freedom Plaza, he was reminded of his time following the Vietnam War, when he presented 38 flags to families of fallen soldiers. In one family, a young boy accepted the flag and asked the colonel, “will you be my daddy?” Like the colonel, who did decide to make Freedom Plaza his home, nearly 60 percent of the residents are retired military. This is the only CCRC sponsored by the Retired Officers’ Corporation.
